TEAM ENGINE 11
Get to know some of the riders on the Engine 11 cycling team in this awesome video profile. I love the DIY attitude that these guys are bringing to grassroots racing. I’m proud to say that I’ve had the pleasure of teaching almost all of the Engine 11 riders at my Intro To Track Racing class at Encino Velodrome. In fact, that’s where a lot of them met and they’ve been taking over the Los Angeles track racing scene ever since. So to Kevin, Brad, Bud, Langdon, Andrew, Rob, Mike, Edgar and the rest of the squad: keep it up! I’m stoked to see some good racing with these guys in the coming year.
TONIGHT AT VELO SPORTS CENTER
Don’t miss out on Friday Night Racing presented by LAVRA at the only indoor wooden velodrome in America. Come for the bike races. Stay for the beer!
SHE WILL RIDE AGAIN
This is what I saw when I logged into Tumblr this morning: pictures of my 1990 Masi 3Volumetrica posted up by Fix The City (an excellent blog which I follow and you should check out). Unfortunately, this frame met a nasty fate a year ago as I was run off the road on the way to the track. I haven’t looked at pictures of this frame in a long time because I really did treasure it and it usually makes me sad to see it. Damn I miss that bike.
But this time around I didn’t get bummed out seeing the ol’ Masi. Coincidentally, just last night Aram at Predator Cycling told me that he was getting the frame repaired as a wedding gift to me. I still think he’s bluffing — but if not, then THANK YOU ARAM! What a nice dude.
I will be so happy to get the Masi rolling again.
TOMORROW NIGHT AT VELO SPORTS CENTER
Now the only indoor wooden velodrome in the country. Despite all the name changes, racing (or watching races) at Southern California’s multi-million dollar Velo Sports Center facility is a true privilege so get your ass down there tomorrow evening.
