LIVING AND RIDING IN L.A.

Coinciding with the DVD release of To Live And Ride In LA from Trafik Pictures, LA Weekly just dropped a cool little article about riding fixed in in the streets of Los Angeles. So go check out what my buddy Sean Martin has to say about never coasting in the city.

Read the full article HERE. And make sure to come to the To Live & Ride In LA DVD release party tomorrow night.

NOT GOOD NEWS

This is not the kind of thing I like to hear about. Come on, drivers — you should know by now that drinking and driving do not mix… especially when there’s a cell phone in play.

The details are still a bit hazy so I’m not gonna say much about it but my thoughts and prayers go out to everyone affected by this tragedy. Stay tuned with BikingInLA to find the latest news.

TO LIVE AND RIDE IN L.A.

The feature-length fixed gear doc is about to drop on DVD on June 21st and Trafik Pictures just released this teaser from the shoot at Encino Velodrome.

I guarantee that the velodrome segment in the movie is at least TWICE as long as this clip so it’s probably worth checking out the screening coming up on June 25th in Los Angeles, Germany, London and Phoenix.

LAST MEN RIDING - TRAILER

Dangerous traffic, bad pay and new technologies - bike messengers in Downtown LA are becoming an endangered species. This short documentary follows the Last Men Riding.

Stay tuned for info on screenings and other news.

CICLAVIA - TILT SHIFTED

Another view of Los Angeles’ CicLAvia event last Sunday. So dreamy!

Sad you missed it? Don’t worry, there will be more. Check in with the CicLAvia blog to find out when.
CICLAVIA - TAKING BACK THE STREETS OF LA

Like some kind of divine miracle, the streets of Los Angeles were closed to car traffic last Sunday as about 150,000 bikers, pedestrians, rollerbladers, skaters, unicyclists and many more celebrated the existence of PUBLIC SPACES. If you’d told me about this five years ago — hell two years ago — I would think that you’re joking. You have to experience it to believe it.

Check out lots more great photos of CicLAvia from Devon Tsuno.

BRAZIL CRITICAL MASS TRAGEDY

WARNING: This video is not for the faint of heart. It shows a driver intentionally plowing down a group of cyclists riding on Critical Mass in Porto Alegre, Brazil last Friday evening.

No matter what your opinion is on Critical Mass rides, it should never ever EVER come down to this. My heart goes out to everyone who was affected by this outrageous act of violence.

Find more details on what happened at The Urban Country.
