ALISON SHANKS x POWERADE

If New Zealand track cyclist Alison Shanks trains 6.5 hours for every second she races, then how much training did she do to win the World Champion title in the women’s Individual Pursuit with a time of 3 minutes and 30.199 seconds?

THE PREDATOR PAIN MACHINE

The ErgoBike is a heavy duty training tool from Predator Cycling which was co-developed with Adam Duvendeck of Momentum Coaching.

A few days ago, my friend Big Sam decided to take on the Predator ErgoBike and — as you can see in the video — he got owned. Now you have to understand that Big Sam is a big dude… that’s why we call him Big Sam. In terms of brute strength, he’s definitely one of the most powerful cyclists I’ve had the privilege to ride with. It’s kinda frightening to see what this little stationary trainer did to him after a few efforts.

The Predator ErgoBike definitely seems like an essential training tool for the competition-minded track cyclist focused on power and resistance workouts. Check it out at Predator Cycling.

A TRAINING SESSION WITH THE SWISS

With the UCI World Cup event coming up in London, national teams all over the world are seriously preparing their legs as it will be a rare opportunity for everyone to test the Olympic velodrome a few months for the Olympic Games. Here’s the Swiss National Team getting some laps in at the http://www.uci.ch/">World Cycling Center in Aigle.

MORE JAMIE STAFF AT ENCINO VELODROME

Jamie Staff gives us some more advice on standing starts with Jack Lindquist offering the demonstration (and Dingo crawling on the ground snapping a photo).

Another great video from Pat Benson. Thanks, Pat!

JAMIE STAFF COACHING AT ENCINO VELODROME

Last Tuesday former World Champ and the US Team’s sprint coach Jamie Staff came up to Encino Velodrome for a coaching and training session.

Pat Benson put together a great video from the evening.

VICTORIA PENDLETON ON THE MATCH SPRINT

Found this to be pretty cool. Vicky Pendleton drops basic strategies on how to win a Match Sprint. Definitely worth a watch even if it’s not exactly something anyone can cover in a 3-minute video — at the Intro To Track Racing class, we’ll spend a 3-hour session on Match Sprints and still just scratch the surface.
