Six-day racing season started up in the Netherlands today with the Amsterdam Six Day (or Zesdaagse van Amsterdam). If you want to keep up with the races and entertainment, check out ZesAmsterdam on Twitter… but it’s all in Dutch of course. I’ll try to keep you updated on any interesting news (like how already Theo Bos droppe out because of a stomach bug).

I’ve always wanted to go to a European six day race. Anyone ever been?

Get yo-self ready. The Alpenrose Six Day is right around the corner — starting on Monday June 28th and continuing until Saturday.

Madison teams will be racing on all six days and accumulating points to compete for the FIAC Six Day National Championship title. Not to mention plenty of daily prizes and primes.

This is THE six day race event so if you want to see some Madisons, I suggest stopping by Alpenrose Velodrome next week. Races will start at 6pm on weekdays and 11am on Saturday.

Great portrait of Belgian cyclist Arthur “Iron ‘Tuur” Van Der Stuyft.

All around pure grit. Obviously from a time when men were friggin’ MEN!

I don’t know what it is about this image…

The turtle neck. The hair. The furrowed brow combined with the face of a man who’s tougher than a horse.

Not sure who the racer is but I dig the photograph.

Found on La Gazzetta.

Six-day racer Cecil Yates likes ‘em cool and tasty. That’s why he smokes slow-burning Camels — for that extra mildness and coolness and flavor.

I’d like to find the advertising geniuses behind that one.
