ROBERT FÖRSTEMANN — IN BEAST MODE
So ridiculous! The shorts, the stripes, the wheel stickers, the insane race face… oh and those huge cannons. What a beast.

STAYERS
Stayer racing — Derny racing — Motor paced racing — Whatever it’s called, it’s always interested me. I’ve seen some on video but I’ve always wanted to see one live. Unfortanely, it’s not a very common race and these days as it’s rare to catch one anywhere except for the European Six Day circuit.
This photo (taken by Radek Orzsewski) from the recent Berlin Six Day really captures the intense concentration required by both the pacesetters and the riders to remain in sync at such high speeds.

BEHIND THE BERLIN SIX
Obviously I love track racing photos but a lot of times the best shots come from behind the scenes. Kerstin Winterkamp’s latest set from the Berlin Six Day has a lot of great shots from the infield where we get to see the mechanics working hard to keep their riders on the track. Sure, it’s all about the legs and lungs… but you can’t win a six day race without a great mechanic.

POV SIX DAY CRASH
This is some awesome footage from the Berlin Six Day which is going on right now. One of the teams had cameras mounted on their bikes and the result looks rad. Madison races are so crazy!

The Rotarian: The Race To Nowhere
Six-day bicycle racing featured in an issue of The Rotarian from December, 1937. That’s 63 years ago! Very cool read.
