The first trailer for the upcoming autobiographical messenger documentary from Kenton Hoppas: Career Courier.

Murder Of The Couriers

I’ve been awaiting this flick since the first trailer came out over a year ago. This latest trailer came out at the end of last week and has already been all over the blogosphere but I’ll reblog it here because I love Vancouver — the city of my youth. I miss riding Vancouver and this video makes me miss it even more.
This weekend at Hellyer Park Velodrome!

VeloCity Tour hits The Bay Area featuring track races for messengers and urban cyclists! Messengers will be competing for airfare to the 2010 Cycle Messenger Worlds Championships in Guatemala.

The competitions will be in an “omnium” format. The track races will be:

5 -up chariot heats — a standing start one lap race, winner goes to final, 2nd to rep round

20 lap scratch — after 20 laps the first one across the line wins

Miss and out — every lap the last rider to cross the line gets pulled from the race until we have 5 left and then there’s a 3 lap race for first through fifth

20 lap Point-a-lap — every lap a point is awarded for the leading rider to cross the line. The rider with the most points at the end wins.

Australian Pursuit — riders are spaced equally around the track and the race starts from a standing start. The objective is to pass all the people in front of you and not to get passed yourself. Once you are passed you are out of the race.

I don’t post a lot of cycling caps because I don’t really ever wear a lot of cycling caps. But this Cinelli cap made for the 2010 Cycle Messenger World Champs in Guatemala is so rad. Get one here.

Speaking of CMCW, one of the last remaining chances to win airfare to Guatemala is about a week and a half away when the VeloCity Tour hits the Bay Area — more specifically, Hellyer Velodrome. I just checked the program and it looks like it’s gonna be an awesome event. Check the details here.
