I’d be very sad to see the Edinburgh velodrome disappear and not be replaced… It’s not just about producing champions in the future. It’s about getting kids on bikes and having fun, being healthy and making the most of it.

Chris Hoy on his hometown velodrome at Meadowbank Stadium which is under threat of being sold for property development by the City of Edinburgh.

This is the track that Hoy started riding on when he was a kid as well as Craig McLean. Who knows who will be the next champion to come out of that track… Maybe one of the kids above who competed in the recent West of Scotland Cycling Association track Championships and Youth Omnium?
