1. ELITE NATS: PHOTO FINISH… AGAIN!

Remember the photo finish I posted on Friday where Giddeon Massie edged past Matt Baranoski in the 1/8 finals of the Match Sprints?

Well Massie did it again on Saturday night, this time beating Baranoski for the Keirin final by the width of a tire. Amazing racing out there and congrats to all the Elite Nats riders!

  2. ELITE NATS: PHOTO FINISH

Giddeon Massie (#44) beat Matt Baranoski (#54) to the line in the 1/8 round of Sprints this morning. Massie will be moving on to the quarter finals while Baranoski still has a chance to make it back into the tournament if he wins in the Repechage round.

Finals will be contested this evening.

  3. A month after Elite Nationals and Pat Benson’s photos are still trickling through. I love this shot of 17-year old Matthew Baranoski getting the better of Giddeon Massie and Jimmy Watkins in a truly amazing Keirin final.

  4. 2010 Elite Nats - Men’s Keirin Final

Okay it’s been a quiet day today (busy for me but quiet for you) but I just dug up a goldmine of videos from the Elite National Championships a couple weeks ago. If you missed the action at LA Velodrome, head over to TrackCyclingMedia’s channel on YouTube and you can see most of the races that went down.

This one is the Men’s Keirin Final with the junior Matt Baranoski holding off the big guns like Jimmy Watkins and Giddeon Massie. Great race!

  5. Elite Nats — Men’s Keirin Photos

Had so much fun watching the Elite National Championship races yesterday at the Los Angeles Event Center Velodrome in the Home Depot Center (formerly known as ADT)!!! The Points Races were awesome and the Women’s Sprints were great but probably the most excitement came from watching the Men’s Keirin Races.

Beaver Beavs was taking some photos…

Justin Williams came in 11th overall.

Seventeen-year old Matt Baranoski — who won the Bronze medal earlier this year in the Keirin at Junior World Championships — is our new National Champion in the Keirin. Here’s a short interview from USA Cycling:

See full results from yesterday here. Elite Nats continues with Team Sprints and Madisons today at noon! If you can’t make it to the track, watch it on Ustream.

  6. Matt Baranoski's Path To Keirin Bronze →

USA Cycling’s sprint coach Jamie Staff wrote up a cool account of Matthew Baranoski’s ride to Men’s Keirin Bronze at last weekend’s UCI Juniors World Champs.

Baranoski brought home one of two medals awarded to USA. Coryn Rivera also won the Bronze for the Women’s Omnium. Full results from the Junior Worlds are available here.
