Last weekend was the 36th event in Manchester Velodrome’s Revolution Series and it looks like a huge crowd turned out to see some true track racing. Head over to British Cycling’s Flickr to see the rest of the set.
The Revolution racing series continues this Saturday night, bringing out some of the fiercest trackies in Great Britain. For this round, Manchester Velodrome will be welcoming current World Champion on the road, Mark Cavendish back to the boards.
The big news bit to come out today is that reigning Road World Champion Mark Cavendish will be going back to his roots and returning to the velodrome. He will be racing in the second event of the Revolution season at Manchester Velodrome next Saturday. This will be Cav’s first appearance on the track in a couple years and he’ll be racing alongside other track stars such as Ed Clancy, Geraint Thomas and Alex Dowsett.
The new season of Revolution starts up this weekend and is sure to bring out plenty of British track stars for a night of spectator-friendly racing. Get your tickets HERE.
And if you miss out on the live event, the races will be broadcasted on ITV4 on Monday evening.
While Azizulhasni Awang crossing the finish line with a seven-inch spike through his leg was the talk of the Manchester Track World Cup a couple weeks ago, Sarah Hammer’s victory in the Women’s Omnium was probably the most brilliant performance of the entire event.
Just watch her lay down the “hammer” (get it?) in the last four laps of the Scratch Race. Amazing!
