Saturday - UK’s Revolution Season 8

The new season of Cycling Revolution starts this weekend at Manchester Velodrome. This is the UK’s premier track cycling series where all the British stars come out to compete in a stadium-style spectator-friendly spectacle.

This season marks the first time that pro trade teams will be competing with riders representing from the likes of Motorpoint and Rapha-Condor-Sharp. The Team Sky regulars will also be present.

One of the highlights of the night will be the Team Sprint showdown between England and Scotland. Jason Kenny, Matt Crampton and Danvid Daniell (pictured) will face off against Sir Chris Hoy, Ross Edgar and Chris Pritchard. This is the match-up that never happened at the Commonwealth Games.

The last Cycling Revolution meet was filmed by Sky HD in 3D, being the first cycling event ever filmed with 3D cameras. I still have never seen any of the footage. I’m hoping that we at least get to see some videos from this next meet.

Either way, the best way to see track racing is at the track. Cycling Revolution starts at 7pm this Saturday at Manchester Velodrome and tickets are available here.

Sir Chris Hoy was dethroned by Jason Kenny in the British National Championships Match Sprint quarter finals.

Hoy was unable to defend his title and later pulled out of British Nationals entirely due to illness. Jason Kenny went on to defeat Matt Crampton for the National Championship title.

Hey, I know how Hoy feels. It’s never a good day to have a bad day.

Victoria Pendleton earned her 27th British National Champion title yesterday with the 500m TT (in 34.636 seconds!). Read the full day’s recap on Cycling Weekly (and see some photos here).

The British Track Nationals will continue all this week at Manchester Velodrome. Results will be posted here as they become available.

Sir Chris Hoy, Chris Boardman and former British track coach Doug Dailey recall their past experiences at the Great Britain National Track Championships. The 2010 National Champs are coming up on Sept 21st to the 25th and will be attended by track stars such as Chris Hoy, Victoria Pendleton and Jason Kenny.

Paul Smith is so f’n cool. Here he is racing against the Rapha / Condor / Sharp team at Manchester Velodrome.

I guess the moral of the story is a cycling kit will make you faster.

I love Kraftwerk. This interview is pretty funny. Enjoy!

Sky's 3D cameras capturing the action at Revolution 28 earlier this year at Manchester Velodrome. This was the first cycling event ever filmed in 3D and I’m kinda curious about the result. Anyone out there got the deal on where/when/how to see it?

Okay so I’ve seen RC car racing at the track and I’ve even seen electric skateboard racing at the track. What other sports could we possibly think of to take to the velodrome?
