Earlier this week Affinity Cycles announced the launch of the Kissena Velo Fund. The non-profit organization is being set up with a plan to revitalize New York’s Kissena Velodrome and turn it into a world-class 250-meter indoor velodrome with an attached cycling center and museum.
« NYC is at the forefront of the global cycling culture and it is due time that our facilities reflected our position in the cycling community. Stay tuned for more info about the fund, upcoming events and fundraisers. »
For now, you can lend your support to Kissena Velo Fund by checking out their online store. Every purchase helps out this awesome initiative including the sticker shown above and a limited edition Affinity Kissena frameset.
« Over six years Velo City has rocked nine U.S. Velodromes and sent a total of 24 North American Bike Messengers to the Cycle Messenger World Championships. This year we are proud to deliver two of North America’s best to Warsaw, Poland for the 19th Annual CMWC. »
These badasses took it all at the Kissena Royale finale on June 4th. Seems like it was a great series and I hope Affinity Cycles does it again next year.
The Kissena Royale series is back on the track and here’s the race program for tomorrow’s event. Of course cash primes and other prizes will go out to those who truly put up a good fight. Don’t forget about the group ride from Affinity to Kissena at 11am.
Courier legend Squid has been uploading a load of videos from the 2004 Kissena Messenger Series — an 8-week race series at Kissena Velodrome which determined the members of the famous Team Puma messenger crew. Pretty awesome.
Due to necessary repair work to the Kissena Velodrome, Kissena Royale is canceled this Saturday May 14th. The final three weeks will now have racing every weekend.
