NOTICE: New Time For Intro Class

Intro To Track Racing - Oct 6th

Please note that the new time for Encino Velodrome's Intro To Track Racing class beginning October 6th is 7:00pm to 10:00pm. But don’t worry too much if you can’t make it there till 7:30, you’ll just be missing the warm-up period.

The course begins in less than two weeks. If you’ve never ridden the track before, take the Beginner’s Class this Saturday at noon.

Our previous Intro To Track Racing sessions wrapped up last night and everyone had a great time racing and BBQ’ing. Thanks to all the riders who attended the course. You’ve all come a long way in just six weeks.

For the next two Wednesdays, everyone is welcome to come back to the track and have some fun riding and informal racing. We’ll hold a pre-intro orientation session on the 29th for folks who haven’t taken the course before and are planning to attend the Oct 6th course.

REMINDER: Space is limited for the Oct 6th course so don’t forget to reserve your spot!

“Intro To Track Racing" is a six-week course where each week we focus on a different type of race (pursuit, points race, match sprint, etc). The program is perfect for riders who are relatively new to the track and want to become more comfortable in racing situations as well as more experienced racers who want the practice. Most of all, it’s just fun.

All six sessions will be on Wednesday nights from 7:00pm to 10:00pm starting on October 6th. It’s $60 for the full course and if you miss a night, you can make it up the next time we run the course. Space is limited so please pre-register — hit the Paypal button below and bring your receipt to the first session.

If you haven’t ridden on a velodrome before, you must complete the Encino Velodrome Beginner’s Class prior to taking this course (there’s a Beginner’s Class being held on Saturday, September 18th). All riders are welcome to stop by on Sept 29th at 7:00pm for a little prep/evaluation session to determine rider skill levels — nothing serious, just some fun races and such.

For more info please send me an e-mail. Again, space is limited so hit the Paypal button to pre-register and guarantee your spot.

It was 100 degrees at Encino Velodrome last night. Warming up was the only way to stay cool.

In what could be one of the greatest sports rivalries since the Kings vs. Oilers, there has been a healthy dose of competition at our Intro To Track Racing class between the rabblerousing troublemakers of Chain Gang T.O. and the mischievous hooligans of The Juice. Last week, both clubs were sporting their colors in full force and the situation quickly escalated like a scene from Beat Street.

Before the breakdancing on the infield got too out of hand, they decided to settle it on the track with a 4-man team sprint with teams starting on opposite sides of the track. Beaver caught it (most of it) on film.

Chain Gang T.O. won this battle but the war rages on. The Juice are recruiting some new riders and planning a comeback. Tomorrow night we will be doing Match Sprints all night long and you can expect to see a lot of grudge matches between these two clubs.

Just a friendly reminder that the 6-week Intro To Track Racing course begins tonight at Encino Velodrome!

Don’t miss it… especially if you pre-registered — that would be a damn shame. Warm-up starts at 7:30pm SHARP. See you there.

Velodrome Portraits by Beaver

Last night was the prep night for our new Wednesday night Intro To Track Racing class at Encino Velodrome and it was a blast. We had a huge turnout with most of our riders from the June test-run of the course returning for more night-time racing and a bunch of new riders looking to learn and practice. Some folks also showed up just to watch from the stands and enjoy some delicious BBQ.

Beaver was celebrating his birthday and had gotten himself a nice new camera. He was taking some real sexy shots of our riders and here they are…

Less than a week before the official start of the six-week Intro To Track Racing class. Space is limited so if you haven’t pre-registered yet, you’d better get on it (Encino Velodrome’s Beginner Class or prior track experience is a PREREQUISITE)!

Only seven days to go until the start of our Intro To Track Racing class at Encino Velodrome. Tonight we’ll be having a little rider assessment/prep session plus a BBQ birthday party for Beaver and Henry.

Everyone is invited to come down. It’s highly recommended (Jared says it’s mandatory) that anyone planning to do the Intro To Track Racing course and hasn’t ridden with our Wednesday-night session before attend tonight. We’ll be riding some pacelines, running a few exercises and having some fun races. The session will be tonight from 7:30 to 10:30. Bring something to throw on the grill!

For more information about our 6-week Intro To Track Racing, course, click here. Spots are already almost filled up so you better get your pre-registration on at the Encino Velodrome site. It’s $60 pre-paid for all six weeks and it’s a great program for new riders as well as experienced riders. Sessions are every Wednesday from 7:30pm to 10:30pm and if you happen to miss one, you can drop in and make it up the next time we run the course. All we do is learn and practice different track racing events and have fun doing it. So what are you waiting for? Sign up!

Sign Up For “Intro To Track Racing” Class At Encino Velodrome

Intro To Track Racing @ Encino Velodrome

Encino Velodrome volunteer Jared Thayn has been collaborating with yours truly on creating a course to help new riders get used to the strategies and rules of different track racing events. For the past 6 months we’ve been running the program and tweaking the curriculum and now we’re finally ready to make it legit!

Intro To Track Racing" is a six-week course where each week we focus on a different type of race (pursuit, points race, match sprint, etc). The program is perfect for riders who are relatively new to the track and want to become more comfortable in racing situations as well as more experienced racers who want the practice. Most of all, it’s just fun. When we ran the program in June, we had a full field and every rider had a great time (most of them will be back for this round too).

All six sessions will be on Wednesday nights from 7:30pm to 10:30pm starting on August 11th. It’s $60 for the full course. Space is limited so please pre-register — hit the Paypal button below and bring your receipt to the first session.

New riders must complete the Encino Velodrome Beginner’s Class prior to taking this course (there’s a Beginner’s Class being held on Saturday, July 24th). If you’ve ridden on the track before, you might want to stop by on Aug 4th at 7:30pm for a little prep/evaluation session to determine rider skill levels — nothing serious, just some fun races and such.

For more info contact me or Jared Thayn. Hit the Paypal button to pre-register. For the record, all the money goes directly to Encino Velodrome and none of it goes into our pockets.
