Lithuanian track cyclist Simona Krupeckaite set a new World Record for the Women’s Flying 200m TT at 10.793 seconds. That’s almost 67 kilometers per hour. The previous record of 10.831 seconds had stood for just over 17 years.
Krupeckaite set the new record during the 2010 Grand Prix Of Moscow sprint qualification last weekend at Krylatskoye Velodrome. New records were expected to be set during this past weekend of racing in Moscow. During last year’s competition, Kevin Sireau broke the 200m TT World Record (previously held by Theo Bos). Moscow’s 333m velodrome is becoming legendary as being a very FAST track.
Of course, Krupeckaite went on to win the Women’s Sprint tournament in Moscow. She also holds the Women’s 500m TT World Record and is the current World Champion in the Women’s Keirin.
