City Grounds just posted up a great photo recap of the NJS Bike Show. That Panasonic funny bike won the prize for Rarest NJS Bike for its stamped Campy group. Pretty nice!
Time to get your winter learning on. The lights at Encino Velodrome are going out in December so I figure we have just enough time to it in one more round of the Intro To To Track Racing classes. The six-week course is scheduled to start in ONE WEEK on October 26th. Sessions will be Wednesday nights from 7pm to 10pm.
The program is perfect for newer track riders who wish to learn the rules of different track events as well as experienced racers who want to stay in top form. Each Wednesday night we’ll focus on a specific type of discipline until the final week which will be an Omnium final. It’s $10 per session but space is limited to if you want to reserve a prepaid spot for all six weeks, hit the Paypal button below and bring your receipt to the first session.
If you haven’t ridden on the track before, you MUST complete the Encino Velodrome Beginner’s Class prior to taking this course. There’s a Beginner’s Class being taught THIS SATURDAY AT NOON. Go to it!
If you got any questions, please send me an e-mail. Again, space is limited so hit the Paypal button to pre-register and guarantee your spot.
Get your sparkly steel bikes out! We’re proud to be sponsoring the 3rd annual NJS Ride & Bike Show for everyone in LA who’s got a fetish for handmade Keirin bikes. On October 23rd, the group ride will leave from the North Hollywood Metro Station at 1:30pm and head over to Encino Velodrome where the real fun begins. Excited!
The man! Nice profile on Woody who tells us about his history with bikes from BMX’ing as a kid all the way to opening up Golden Saddle Cyclery and hosting rad events like the Golden Saddle Grand Prix. Check it!
The next event in the Summer Race Series is coming up on August 24th so mark it in your calendar. Predator Cycling is putting up over $1,000 in prizes and we’ll be seeing some fast Keirin action all night. Don’t miss this one!
Well I’m in the middle of one of my heaviest work weeks of the year at my “real job” so I haven’t been able to post much lately. I will be trying to catch up on everything over the weekend. I promise!
In the meantime, the Golden Saddle Grand Prix last Wednesday was nothing short of AMAZING. We had over 60 racers and almost 200 spectators at Encino Velodrome and everyone had a great time. The races were fast and exciting, the grill was serving up delicious food and there were tons of prizes going out to both racers and spectators who bought raffle tickets. The boys at Golden Saddle Cyclery really hooked it up and made this an event to remember. Their raffle alone raised nearly $1200 for the velodrome! We are all astounded at how the event turned out and want to give a huge thanks to everyone who came out to support. I will have a full race recap coming shortly plus lots of photos.
This video was the Crawl Race between all the sprinters who didn’t qualify for the tournament. They had about two minutes before they were allowed to cross the finish line and then it was a one-lap sprint for the win. Thanks to Pat Benson for filming.
If you weren’t able to make it out last Wednesday, you can still show your support by grabbing a Save The Track Bike t-shirt available in BLACK or WHITE.
