MACHINE PROJECT: ENCINO VELODROME

« This summer, Machine has invited 30 artists to create 30 new projects that respond to 30 notable architectural sites around the city of Los Angeles. The events range in size and scope and include a tract home light show, a lecture on ninetheenth-century aquaria inside a $3 million Frank Gehry-designed aquarium, a cave concert, an experimental theater piece performed in the only Schindler spec home ever built, a movement piece for pregnant performers in a domed church, collaborative walking tours, a theatrical performance of The Odyssey set in a Honda Odyssey circling the freeways, and a Miracle Mile memorial Starline bus tour guided by the spirit of Whitney Houston.

Field Guide will culminate with a final screening of short films made in conjunction with each project. »

TODAY AT ENCINO VELODROME

All proceeds from this event will go to benefit the family of a fallen friend. There will be a track certification clinic, some races, some raffles, some prizes and a whole lot of riding to be had. Twenty bucks to ride (includes a raffle ticket), ten bucks to rent a bike (if you need to) and five bucks for each additional raffle ticket.

SUMMER RACE SERIES: TEAM DREAM TEAM TRIAL TIME

After much deliberation over all the details, Team Dream Bicycling Team and Ride The Black Line have settled on the perfect event to open the 2013 Summer Race Series at Encino Velodrome.

The Team Dream Team Trial Time will be a night full of Team Pursuits, Team Sprints and a dash of Flying 200’s. This will be an important event in the Summer Race Series because it presents a big opportunity for teams to grab some early points for the Summer Race Series Team Trophy. Take a look at what the each time trial event will be worth on June 26th:

TIME TRIALS (individual and team time trials)
1st place - 10 points per rider
2nd place - 7 points per rider
3rd place - 5 points per rider
4th place - 3 points per rider
5th place - 2 points per rider
6th place - 1 point per rider

What does that mean? That means a four-man Team Pursuit all riding for the same club can grab up to 40 points (44 points with the participation points) for their team and get started with a good lead in the SRS Team Trophy standings. On top of that, since this is the only SRS2013 event in which women race separately and all female racers score DOUBLE POINTS, a three-woman Team Pursuit racing for the same club can pocket up to 60 points (66 including participation points) to get their team started! How awesome is that?

To sweeten the deal, TDBT and RTBL are putting together some great prizes for the fastest riders of the night just to encourage everyone to pedal that much harder.

Predator Cycling has won the SRS Team Trophy for two consecutive years. So start putting your DREAM TEAM together for a night of Team Time Trials and remember that any victorious Team Pursuit or Team Sprint composed of riders in different clubs will have the points distributed accordingly. So choose your teammates wisely and get those points!

The final event in the 2013 Bob Hansing Memorial Cup Series is this Saturday at Encino Velodrome so drop in for a day full of track races under the Cali sun.

It’s gonna be Jurassic Track all weekend as SoCal Masters racers aged 35+ compete for State Championship titles. Judging by everyone I’ve been seeing training at the velodrome lately, I think it’s going to be some pretty damn good racing.

SUMMER RACE SERIES 2013 

I’m proud to officially announce the 2013 Summer Race Series. Once again, we’re working with some of our favorite bike shops, teams and companies to deliver a great line-up of race nights at Encino Velodrome.

Racing will be every other Wednesday night starting on June 26th and continuing through the summer. We’ll have some exciting races, big prizes and lots of fun so mark your calendars and stay tuned for news and details on each event.
