ELITE NATS: WOMEN’S KEIRIN CRASH

A crash was caught on tape during the last lap of the women’s Keirin minor final last night. Both riders — I believe it was Mandy Marquardt and Mary Glenn Carrasco — got back up an were able to walk back to the infield. We hope that no (collar)bones were broken and that both riders are feeling better today.

Ride safe!

ELITE NATS: FRIDAY NIGHT HIGHLIGHTS

The atmosphere was super fun and the racing was awesome at Elite Nationals last night. Big upsets in the men’s Sprint Tourney as Giddeon Massie beat top-seeded Kevin Mansker in the semi-finals and then Michael Blatchford beat Massie for the Gold final. Dana Feiss defended her National Title in the women’s Keirin while Jennie Reed, Dotsie Bausch and Sarah Hammer destroyed the Home Depot Center Velodrome record in the women’s Team Pursuit. Check out more photos by Beaver Beavs.

See a full recap HERE and full results HERE. Stoked for more racing tonight!

NEED ANOTHER REMINDER?
THIS WEEKEND AT HDC VELODROME!

Okay seriously… I know Ride The Black Line has been reeeally quiet lately but I’m gonna be making tons of noise at Elite Nats this weekend. Come down to Home Depot Center Velodrome and say hi (I’ll be chillin’ behind turn 3 — or at the beer garden).

Yeah, you can get tend-dollar presale tickets on Ticketbastard (plus a million service fees) but I’ve heard that there are some discounts to be had at the door. Apparently USAC license holders can get in for five bucks each when you show your license. I also heard that there’s a group discount for groups of ten or more at five bucks a head. By the way, they’re only charging for Friday night and Saturday night (Match Sprints, Keirins and Points Races) — it’s free to watch the races on Sunday (Madisons).

Thanks to ZTS for the rad flyer and Tracko for the re-up. Save the track bike!

ELITE TRACK NATS THIS WEEK

The fastest trackies in the country will be competing at the Home Depot Center Velodrome all this week for National Championship titles. If you’re in the Los Angeles area, don’t miss this!

Friday and Saturday nights will be especially spectator friendly with match sprints, keirin races, raffles, vendors, beer garden, tunes supplied by DJ Noel and lots of other fun stuff. I will definitely be there. Presale tickets are just ten bucks and on sale now at Ticketmaster.

Find more info HERE.

A month after Elite Nationals and Pat Benson’s photos are still trickling through. I love this shot of 17-year old Matthew Baranoski getting the better of Giddeon Massie and Jimmy Watkins in a truly amazing Keirin final.

2010 Elite Nats - Men’s Keirin Final

Okay it’s been a quiet day today (busy for me but quiet for you) but I just dug up a goldmine of videos from the Elite National Championships a couple weeks ago. If you missed the action at LA Velodrome, head over to TrackCyclingMedia’s channel on YouTube and you can see most of the races that went down.

This one is the Men’s Keirin Final with the junior Matt Baranoski holding off the big guns like Jimmy Watkins and Giddeon Massie. Great race!
