Jon at TwoToneATL just wrote up a nice play-by-play breakdown of the chariot race — one lap around the track from a standing start. This is such a fun race to run with your buddies. It’s all about how fast you can get up to speed (and hold it for the remainder of the lap). Short and sweet! Nothing too serious so it makes a great race to run with your buddies whenever you’re hanging around the track.

The second installment in Dick Lane Velodrome’s Pro Race Series is going down this weekend. Everything starts out with the “Need For Speed” sprint tournament on Friday evening. Then on Saturday, “The Omnium”.
This weekend of racing also counts for points towards American Track Racing Association’s National Championship Series.
Judging by DLV’s season so far, you can expect to see a lot of action there this weekend. T-shirts with the above print will also be available for sale!

A few scans from Dick Lane Velodrome’s very first race day program way back in 1975!
This is from DLV’s grand opening event called Meet Of Champions on March 23rd, just over 35 years ago. The program includes velodrome info, race outlines, racer bios (one of them being a young Roger Young of LA Velodrome), a bunch of totally 70’s ads and even a blank page for autographs. All sponsored by Pepsi-Cola. So rad!

Congrats to Dave Espinosa (in the rad helmet) of Affinity Cycles on winning Ethic Inc’s The Keirin last weekend at Dick Lane Velodrome.
And for setting a new 200m track record! Amazingly, the record will be held jointly with Andy Lakotash who tied Espinosa’s 11.03s 200m time on the same day.
