Jose Sandoval was on the scene last weekend to capture all the racing at Alpenrose Velodrome as the 2012 track season gets underway in the Northwest. See the rest of the set on Flickr.
The stands were full, track stars were plenty, records were broken and the racing was furious. Looks like the Alpenrose Velodrome Challenge was an awesome event last weekend — even if it was met with a premature ending thanks to the Portland rain. Jose “Velorazzo” Sandoval was there to catch most of the action.
Check out the rest of his shots from Day 1 and Day 2.
Hey speaking of roller races, it’s nice to get a little news coverage on Portland’s prologue to the Alpenrose Velodrome Challenge which is coming up this weekend. Goldsprints at Pioneer Square!
The Northwest is finally seeing some dry nights so weekly racing at Alpenrose Velodrome is officially heating up. Last night they held a pursuit tournament for Thursday Night Racing. Tonight is sprint night for the weekly Fast Twitch Friday. Juniors and Masters will will also have a weekly race night on Tuesdays starting in June.
On top of all that, there’s all the USAC-sanctioned and annual race events coming up on the Alpenrose calendar. According to Brandon at Crossfix, “It’s shaping up to be an awesome racing season already!”
Damn I miss you, Portland.
