Since last winter, the filmmakers have been following four IU cycling teams as they train and prepare for a shot at glory in one of the greatest and most legendary bike races in America. PRISTINE: FIXED DAYS BERLIN TRACK CRIT

Since it was snowing outside, the criterium race planned for last weekend’s Fixed Days Berlin had to be moved indoors so the course became short, technical and super fun. These pictures from Martijn capture some cool moments in the race.

RED BULL MINI DROME COMING SOON TO NYC

One hundred bicycle speed freaks will initially race against the clock for ten laps around this mini version of a typical velodrome, usually located in arenas or outside and typically cover about 100,000 square feet. The field will get narrowed down to 32, who will race head-to-head in a bracket style competition- a different kind of March madness.

THIS WEEKEND AT ENCINO VELODROME

The 2013 track racing season at Encino Velodrome kicks off with The Encino Velodrome Boneshaker presented by Zone 3 Multisport.

Racing will be split into two sessions. Noon to 3pm will see Juniors, Elite Men’s Cat 3 and Masters 50+ racing. Immediately folowing that, Elite Men’s Cat 5, Elite Men’s Cat 4, Elite Men’s Cat 1/2/3 and Women’s racing will begin at 3pm.

YOU SPIN ME ROUND

There is an incredible purity to track cycling. It’s not unlike great design. When you pare everything down, forget the bells, whistles, frills and anything that isn’t absolutely necessary, you are left with a track bike and a perfectly smooth, unobstructed course on which to ride it.

This is what a velodrome represents. Cycing, stripped down to the bare essentials. And it is beautiful. The bikes are works of art, fit to be stared at for lengthy periods, even while at rest.

This low cost velodrome clinic is run by women for women. Coach Pam Jorgensen-Houle has been teaching riders how to ride the track for over 20 years! This clinic is intended for total beginners who just want to give track cycling a try and those with limited experience who want to come back for more!

WPH MARATHON CRASH RACE: JUST GOT REAL

A couple years ago, few guys from State Bicycle Co. raced the infamous Wolfpack Hustle Marathon Crash Race. The Arizona team swept the podium in the fixed category and won the sacred Wolfpack dogtags which commenced a great rivalry between riders in Los Angeles and our neighboring state of AZ. Now State Bicycle Co. is sending out the message that they are ready to do it again. You better bring it!
