DROMA — The future of track cycling …?

Here is a thesis presentation by Stuart Fingerhut for his concept DROMA. From what I can gather, it could be the next generation in track racing, vastly improving the whole experience for both spectators and participants.

One of the neatest aspects of the thesis is the proposal of an interactive touchscreen-esque velodrome surface which keeps track of the racers’ positions, times, speeds and collisions.

Fingerhut’s concept for the all-inclusive velodrome stadium is also pretty cool. Check it on his Flickr slideshow.

This particular future might be a ways off (and even if it did come, I’m sure the retrogrouch in me would yearn for the traditional wooden surface) but even still this video is pretty badass. Nice work.
