La Ocho is dead. Long live La Ocho!
Tropical Storm Hermine wreaked havoc across Guatemala over the weekend and early this week, causing landslides and floods and creating a national state of emergency. But even Mother Nature can’t stop the toughest cyclists on Earth for the Cycle Messenger World Championships.
La Ocho, the figure-8 dirt velodrome built in Panajachel for CMWC was partially destroyed during the storms. So in order to keep the race going, La Ocho 2 was created. Still a figure-8 but this one is flat with painted lines outlining the track.
Veteran messenger and world-class mountain biker Ivonne Kraft won La Ocho finals on Tuesday night. See full results here.
