I’ll be off the grid for the rest of the week but I’ve got some good stuff lined up to post when I get back online. In the meantime, do this tonight and have a merry Thanksgiving and a happy Evacuation Day!
Come out and support this awesome event and cause. All food donated from Cranksgiving this year will go to Para Los Niños and distributed to local families in need.
And if you’re on the other coast, get your ass out to Cranksgiving NYC.
Hellyer County Park Velodrome is holding a logo design contest this month. The new logo will be used on printed materials, clothing, signs and the website. The winner gets TWO HUNDRED BUCKS IN CASH.
I love this shot from Fenlandsnapper at the Grenoble Six Day Race a few weeks ago. The trackstanding contest lasted for 33 minutes and featured some truly legendary trackies. Here’s what Fenlandsnapper says about it:
« One of the features of the Saturday evening at the Grenoble 6 Day track event in 2011 was a track stand competition. The participants were the sprinters at the event with a guest appearance by Arnaud Tournant (center) the world trackstanding record holder (45 minutes). After about 10 minutes, these were the three remaining riders. François Pervis (right) was the first to falter after about 20 minutes I think. The other two lasted to 33 minutes. Grégory Baugé (left) won by outlasting Arnaud Tournant by a minute. »
Nothing like a trip to the Keirin track with your buddies. The Sexon Super Peace kids got to ride around Seibuen Stadium for a session and it looks like good times. I’d be so stoked to do this any day.
Earlier this week Affinity Cycles announced the launch of the Kissena Velo Fund. The non-profit organization is being set up with a plan to revitalize New York’s Kissena Velodrome and turn it into a world-class 250-meter indoor velodrome with an attached cycling center and museum.
« NYC is at the forefront of the global cycling culture and it is due time that our facilities reflected our position in the cycling community. Stay tuned for more info about the fund, upcoming events and fundraisers. »
For now, you can lend your support to Kissena Velo Fund by checking out their online store. Every purchase helps out this awesome initiative including the sticker shown above and a limited edition Affinity Kissena frameset.
